Eleven-time Grammy® winner and mandolin phenom Ricky Skaggs joins forces with pianist Bruce Hornsby, who has toured with the Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan, and whose top ten hits include "Mandolin Rain," "End of the Innocence" and "The Way It Is." This remarkable gala concert will highlight the "fascinating and masterful" (Cybergrass) collaboration of these two stars whose 2007 eponymous CD was "one of most memorable projects I've ever done," raves Skaggs.
"Skaggs and Hornsby played two screamed-for encores, giving the people what they paid for: feel-good Americana and virtuoso musicianship." —Seattle Times

Education Programs
Summer in the City raises critical funds for the Kimmel
Center's education programs including our curriculum-based
performing arts classes serving grades 5-12, student matinees, our Dance in the Schools Initiative, the Teen Summer Arts Camp and the Kimmel Center Youth Jazz Ensemble.
Each of these wonderful programs, with the exception of the low-cost student matinees, are free of charge to every child. And it has been our experience that children who initially experience the Kimmel Center though a field trip to one of our curriculum classes often
return for a future class, to audition for the summer camp, to try out for the Jazz Ensemble, or to attend a performance by an internationally acclaimed artist.
Your participation in Summer in the City will help us
keep the kids involved and nurture the next generation of
young artists and art enthusiasts!
"On behalf of my entire family, I'd
like to thank you and your staff
for providing such a wonderful
experience for the kids in the Teen
Summer Chamber Music Camp.
This camp was a wonderful
experience for my daughter who
very much enjoyed the intensive
coaching, the rehearsals, the
camaraderie—and even the
theory classes. Having 'camp' at
the Kimmel Center is a rewarding
experience for kids because it
helps them to feel at home in the
home of one of the city's cultural
treasures. What an exciting and
rewarding experience for these
teenagers to be able to perform
chamber music on the
stage of Verizon Hall! This
has been an invaluable and
life-altering experience."
—A 2007 Teen Summer Arts Camp parent
